Excellence in Technical Education
The Women Development Cell of K. D. Polytechnic, Patan organized a
seminar on “Menstrual Hygiene” on 24th March 2026, from 03:00 PM to 04:00 PM at
the Seminar Hall, Department of Computer Engineering. The objective of this
seminar was to spread awareness among female students and faculty members
regarding menstrual hygiene, healthy practices, and to break the social taboos
associated with menstruation.
The session was delivered by Dr. Shreya K. Pandya, AMO, PHC Aghar, who
has significant experience in the field of healthcare and community awareness.
She explained the biological aspects of menstruation in a simple and clear
manner and emphasized the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during
menstrual cycles.
Dr. Pandya highlighted key aspects such as the use of safe sanitary
products, proper disposal methods, and the health risks associated with poor
menstrual hygiene. She also discussed the importance of balanced nutrition and
personal care during menstruation. Her session included practical guidance and
real-life examples, which made it highly informative and engaging for the
participants.
Special emphasis was given on the role of faculty members in supporting
students during menstruation. Faculty were guided to create a comfortable and
supportive environment, be sensitive to students’ needs, and provide necessary
assistance in case of health-related issues. The importance of ensuring the availability
of hygiene facilities and promoting awareness among students was also
discussed.
A total of 83 female faculty members and students actively participated
in the seminar, showing keen interest in the topic and interacting with the
speaker during the session.
